Tideflex Valves Key to Clonmel Flood Defence Scheme

Between 1995 & 2009, Clonmel Town suffered severe flooding on a regular basis from the River Suir and its tributaries. Tideflex valves made a crucial contribution to the design & construction of this important flood defence scheme, being installed where traditional flap valves posed a risk. The scheme, and the valves, performed admirably during the major floods over the 2015/2016 Christmas period, considered its first significant flood test.

Never be stuck in the mud with Tideflex

Flap valves on the stormwater discharges to the tidal section of the Parrett River at Bridgwater were constantly blocked due to mud & silt. In 2013 Wessex Water decided that Tideflex duckbill valves would provide the solution, with their proven track record in being free draining and self-clearing. This site in Douglas, Isle of Man required a robust solution to the problems of a large culvert exiting into a chamber in the sea wall which is exposed to high seas. We proposed and provided an array of 5 Tideflex check valves, which is still showing no signs of fatigue since installation in 2000.
