The flap valve solution on the Narrow Street Victorian sewer outfall onto Ratcliff beach in Limehouse, London was in need of a replacement. MeasurIT were able to show that a GuvNu valve array would provide the required longterm function as well as being aesthetically pleasing and the valve array was installed in September 2018.
Coastal and river outfall pipes can be partially or completely buried by sand, shingle and mud. These materials can be deposited in a single tide or change with river currents so planned clearance is of little value. Tideflex all rubber check valves are an excellent alternative to flap valves for these outfall applications.
MeasurIT were approached to provide a solution to a recurring problem with the metal flap valve on the Strype Burn outfall and we proposed a Tideflex duckbill valve as an alternative that would be able to cope with the beach shingle.
This stormwater outfall on a beach near Woodstown, Co. Waterford was proving very problematic with the existing flap valve solution unable to cope with the constant shifting of beach sand. MeasurIT proposed a solution which was installed in 2014 and is operating effectively.
Flap valves on the stormwater discharges to the tidal section of the Parrett River at Bridgwater were constantly blocked due to mud & silt. In 2013 Wessex Water decided that Tideflex duckbill valves would provide the solution, with their proven track record in being free draining and self-clearing. We have no doubt they will be happy with their choice for decades to come.
