The flap valve solution on the Narrow Street Victorian sewer outfall onto Ratcliff beach in Limehouse, London was in need of a replacement. MeasurIT were able to show that a GuvNu valve array would provide the required longterm function as well as being aesthetically pleasing and the valve array was installed in September 2018.
In order to mitigate flooding in Glasthule Village from sewer overflows during storm events, a CSO outfall to the sea was constructed as an interim measure. A CheckMate non-return valve was identified as the best product for installation on the CSO outfall pipe to prevent backflow from the sea entering the sewer system. The low headloss of the CheckMate valve meant that a pumped solution was not necessary.
Another common, but less well-known, use for the Tideflex Checkmate check valve is preventing insects, rodents and other small animals from gaining access to drainage systems, while still allowing flows out of the system.
