How Are Tideflex Diffuser Valves Different?
Sea outfalls and river outfalls for trade effluent discharge and wastewater effluent typically incorporate multiport diffusers that discharge effluent over a wide area though numerous ports. Providing a cost-effective means of achieving high initial effluent dilution, multiport diffusers minimize the impact of municipal and industrial discharges on the environment.
However, conventional diffusers are prone to sediment and saltwater intrusion which reduces the hydraulic capacity and dilution efficiency of the effluent diffuser system. Tideflex Diffuser Valves overcome these challenges with their rubber duckbill design.
The Tideflex Effluent Diffuser System prevents intrusion of debris, sediment, salt water and
aquatic life into the effluent outfall pipeline while providing excellent drainage with low flows at the same time.
Tideflex Diffuser Valves are custom-designed for every application based on jet velocity, open area and headloss requirements that are critical to achieving the required initial dilution within the hydraulic head limitations of the outfall. There are up to 50 different hydraulic variations of these valves per nominal size. An extensive amount of independent hydraulic testing was required on many sizes and stiffness of the valves to develop the hydraulic models Tideflex engineers use to assist in the design of multiport effluent diffusers.
