Pinch Valves
Pinch Valve

The heart of this unique valve is the durable, flexible rubber sleeve which is reinforced with high-strength fabric. The sleeve, which is the only part of the valve exposed to the line process, eliminates maintenance.

Applications: corrosive chemicals, abrasive materials, slurries, hi-pressure.

Laser Level Measurement
of Rocks
in Crushers and Surge Bins

Problem
Rock quarries and mines are a brutal environment for any level measurement instrument. Secondary and tertiary crushers need to be kept “choke fed” (continuously filled with rocks) for optimum productivity and maximum equipment life. Fast changing levels, vibrations and dust are the typical environmental issues which the level instrument must operate within.

Solution
K-TEK’s LM80 Laser Transmitter.

How It Works
K-TEK’s Laser Transmitter continuously measures the level in the crusher or the surge bin. The 4 to 20mA output signal from the laser is connected to a PID device which controls the speed of the feeding conveyors via Variable Speed Drive motors. The goal is to keep the crusher full or “choke fed” at all times to optimize “rock on rock” crushing. Depending on the actual crusher or bin level, the controller will increase or decrease the conveyor speed, based on the laser output signal.

Laser Advantages
• Measures any surface at any angle,
• Ability to measure in the limited space of a crusher or surge bin,
• No beam divergence = no erroneous echoes,
• Non-contact,
• Very fast and accurate measurement,
• Not impacted by vibration, noise, or reposing angles.
