Early warning of leaks and spills can prevent contamination and protect the environment and water treatment plant from permanent damage.

The OilSpy System has specially been designed for:
• floating hydrocarbons
• chloride solvents
in surface and ground water.

The spill has to be only 0.1 mm thick to be detected.

A typical flow element configuration uses two RTDs (Resistance Temperature Detectors), sheathed in thermowells, separated by a gap. Heat is applied internally to one RTD, creating a differential temperature between the two. This differential temperature is greatest at no flow conditions and decreases as flow increases, cooling the heated RTD.

This differential is electronically converted into an electrical signal that can be used to trip a relay in flow or interface switch applications.

Read in details about Thermal Dispersion in our training paper and check its advantages.

How do FCI Thermal Dispersion Sensors work?

FCI is measuring the cooling rate of the Gas molecules passing the flowsensor tubes. How much the sensors are cooled depends on the actual density times the actual velocity of these gas Molecules. So if multiplied by the internal pipe diameter FCI gives a direct Mass flow measurement.

Thermal Dispersion technology utilizes the relationship between flow rate and cooling effect for direct measurement of mass flow.

With no moving parts and minimal invasiveness, Thermal Dispersion is ideal and widely applied in air and gas applications, and provides a highly repeatable and accurate measurement.

User Application Guide

Solving critical process applications for the Pharmaceutical Industry by utilizing Thermal Dispersion in all flow, level, temperature switches & mass flow meters
