Many worldwide marine outfalls suffer from reduced hydraulic capacity and dilution efficiency caused by salt water, sediment, and marine organisms occupying a portion of the outfall pipe.
The open ports in the diffuser cannot prevent backflow, and therefore allow intrusion during periods of low flow and hydraulic instabilities. The cost of evacuating the sediment from the outfall and restoring it to service can be significant.
Variable Orifice Duckbill Valves prevent intrusion of salt water and sediment resulting in considerable savings in operation and maintenance cost over the life of outfall.

Booster Pump Control Valves prevent surges associated with the starting and stopping of pumps. They are available in both in-line and by-pass configurations.
BPC (Booster Pump Control) - Double chamber is designed to open fully and minimize losses. Valve, installed in-line with pump discharge, prevents surges. Pump starts against a closed valve.
PG-BPC - Single chamber valve installed in-line with pump discharge. Again - pump starts against a closed valve, which is often combined with pressure reducing, pressure sustaining and rate flow functions.
DW (Deep Well Pump Control) - Double chamber valve installed on a tee between pump discharge and the header check valve. Pump starts against an open valve which discharges air and silt to waste and prevents starting and stopping surges.
DWX – Similar to DW valve but single chamber with spring lift.
HC (Hydraulic Check) – Permits one-way flow only and offers adjustable opening and closing speeds to help prevent surges.
